Be My Valentine In 2039

HOST/HAVAS      —     DESIGN     UX     ANIMATION

Love is a fickle thing. It also happens to be a billion dollar industry. February 14 is marked as the day of hearts, so why not abstain from the short-term consumables and put half that fancy money into something a little more long-term (and useful), like physical hearts?

The Heart Foundation asked Host/Havas to come up with a platform to attract donations in a less than altruistic society, and thus, the morbidly sweet ‘Be My Valentine In 2039’ was born. Donate, receive a cheesy video to share, and who knows — maybe karma will give you more than good-vibes.

I designed the site and contributed to some cheese-baked, non-lorem-ipsum copy. I wanted the content to be reactive and intentional, sweet interactions like playful touch. The initial heart lock-up in particular, stalked parallaxed according to the cursor position.

I illustrated every cliche Valentine-associated icon, crowd-sourcing some wild Valentine stories for inspiration and finally animated the cards in After Effects. Definitely not enough pizza in my hungry opinion.
